Tickets

Ticket purchases and cost

You can purchase tickets to all of our shows at our box office site.

Our general admission is $35; student admission is $17.50.

Developmental readings are “pay what you will,” but due to limited space, we do require a $10 deposit through our box office, which will be returned to you in cash after the show.

We want our performances to be broadly accessible. We don’t make people show us a student ID to buy an $18 ticket. People who volunteer to take on tasks like checking people in, helping park cars, and lighting the fire get to see the show for free. We also have a form for requesting a free ticket if those volunteer opportunities are inaccessible to an individual. For those with means, we have an option to “pay it forward” with a contribution to our free ticket fund.

In this, our first year, we are primarily funded by ticket revenue. We have applied for some grant support, and have received a handful of generous donations, but about 75% of our budget comes from ticket sales.

Refund policy

If you need to switch dates or decide you can’t make it at all, please email us at hello@silkmothstage.com at least 24 hours before the performance to request a refund or convert your ticket into a donation.

In the event of a cancellation due to inclement or unsafe weather, we will contact you to determine whether you would like to receive a voucher for an upcoming performance or convert your ticket cost into a donation. When possible, we will schedule rain dates. We cannot offer refunds for weather cancellations.

What does Silk Moth use the money for?

Nearly all of our budget goes toward paying artists for their work. The actors, directors, designers, choreographers, musicians, stage managers, photographers, and other artists are all paid professionals. This year, Silk Moth Stage will put over $8000 in artists’ wallets. Nearly all of those artists are local.

In addition, we spend money on making the experience safe and accessible for audience members. We rent an accessible porta-potty. We provide ASL interpretation or other accommodations if requested.

We think it’s important that you understand what that ticket price is doing. We pay artists. We wish we could pay them more. We believe that skill, care, talent, and training are worthy of compensation.

Thank you for supporting Silk Moth’s mission to create opportunities for professional actors to do their best work.
